Updates: Jamieson and Cat Refuge Progress

It's been way to long since I posted. I am sorry to say that Jamieson, the FIV+ orange kitty taken in by Sunny Brook Farm and Sanctuary passed away within a week of his arrival. He was on antibiotics and B12 vitamins to treat his deep bite wound and help his appetite respectively. His breathing always concerned me, but I thought that with living inside and getting regular care and love he would rebound. Unfortuantly that was not the case and I had to make the call with the help of my vet. Jamieson knew love and kindness both from the person who contacted me about him and living at the sanctuary. As sad as I was to let him go, I knew that I was freeing him of his battered body and only can hope that he is running free with the rest of the animals that have passed through these doors. His passing only made me more determined than ever to get this cat refuge built so I can help more animals like him that people have just thrown away. In spite of contractors blowing me off, myself and my fiance have managed to get all 24 holes dug, sonotubes sunk, concrete poured, and post brackets placed since my last posting way back in July when we had just finished clearing some trees to make way for the refuge's cat yard. Look at the pictures - maybe it doesn't look like much, but if you ever try to dig holes in New England all you hit are roots and rocks. Plus here, we found all sorts of junk buried which complicated things as well. These pics are a result of working everyday for a couple of hours after a long day at work and taking care of the animals for the evening and also consuming most of the weekends. I ordered the lumber today and it gets delivered this Saturday. I am hoping to have the "matrix" of the cat yard built by the end of October and then get the wire up by the end of November. I don't think the inside part will be done before winter, but only time will tell. I can take care of that in the Spring or slowly work on it over winter. I am down to about $500 (from the original donor) for this project and I still have to buy the actual fence material and take care of the indoor part of the refuge. If you'd like to help PM me. Thank you.
