The Animals

Arabella

Arabella

Arabella is a young semi-feral who came from a barn. She loves going outside in the cat yard and socializing with her cat friends.

Banjo

Banjo

"Banjino the Italian kissing kitten" is Banjo's nickname. He is the brother of Lulu and has become quite the social butterfly. He purrs all of the time and twirls for his food. I also call him the "food bowl meter" because if the food dish is low on food he alerts me and then follows me into the kitchen to monitor me fill it again. Despite being a feral kitten he has become a very friendly kitty and can be quite the clown!

Bastet

Bastet

Bastet is an older female who was part of one of our TNR projects. Unfortunately she was not permitted to be released, but luckily she is in a forever foster home. She is warming up to the person who takes care of her.

Binx

Binx

Binx is part of our TNR efforts. He was trapped with his mom and 2 siblings. Only mom and the daughter were allowed to be returned to the barn.

Blue

Blue

Blue is a young, large pony who came here from another rescue for behavior reasons. He is receiving training here and is very happy living with his mule friend J.J.

Boots

Boots

Boots is a young semi-feral who really does not want human touch. She will accept treats and sit near you, but prefers the company of cats over humans. She came from another rescue that had hoped to socialize her and rehome her. Boots is very happy to go in the cat yard and come inside the cottage whenever she wants.

Buddy

Buddy

Buddy came from a local TNR group. He was the last one left in his colony that unfortunately has many predators surrounding it so the local rescue wanted to bring him to safety.

Caramel

Caramel

Caramel is a young feral that needed a new place to go. She was the last one at her colony and was lonely.

Clyde

Clyde

Clyde is a senior feral that came here from a local rescue because he was the last one left at his colony. His best friend Bonnie had passed over winter and now Clyde was alone. We also took Bonnie's ashes so when the time comes they will be laid to rest together.

Momma Hillary

Momma Hillary

Hillary came with 2 other senior ferals (Little Grey and Stripes) from another rescue. A kind woman had been caring for the trio their entire lives, but due to a change in living conditions, she was no longer able to care for them. The trio came here and are loving the fenced in enclosure.

Coast

Coast

Coast is a senior who came here with his senior house mates Pacific and Billie from a NYC pound. Unfortunately, Billie passed away about a month after arriving here due to a very large tumor on her lungs. Coast was very close to her, but luckily has bonded with Pacific now. None of them were socialized so they are learning that human touch is not so bad.

Emily

Emily

Emily is a senior feral and came from another rescue that TNR's. Emily needed a new home after spending several months inside caring for her one kitten. Emily is enjoying the protected outdoor life at the sanctuary.

Eve

Eve

Eve is a young semi-feral that does not want any human touch. She was trapped on Christmas Eve by another rescue, but the rescue was unable to get her socialized enough for adoption. They contacted us to see if there was room for her. Eve loves other cats and loves treats. She will sit near her primary care giver and play with them, but most certainly loves other cats.

Gabriel

Gabriel

Gabriel came with her sister Amelia from another rescue. The foster they were with could no longer keep them and since they were seniors with cattitude they were not finding a permanent home. They may have had cattitude since their only owner decided to give them up when they were seniors. Gabriel enjoys living in the cat cottage and enjoying the company of the other cats.

Gumby

Gumby

"Gumball", "Gumbilina" are his nicknames and he is the largest cat here. Gumby is a Maine Coon mix and was hand caught by me. His mom and siblings were all trapped later, but I spotted him as a kitten sleeping belly up in the sun. I grabbed him and the rest is history. He is a giant baby and loves attention. He has been diagnosed with megacolon and is on daily, life long meds to help his condition.

Houdini

Houdini

Houdini is a young feral cat that escaped the kill list in NYC. He wants nothing to do with people, but loves other cats and spending times outdoors. In the winter he is more than happy to come inside the heated cat cottage and escape the cold and snow.

Hustler

Hustler

Hustler is a senior feral that came here from a kind woman who has taken care of her for many years. One winter though, something attacked Hustler while she was in her outdoor shelter so she no longer wanted to go into her shelter despite the cold and rain/snow conditions. The woman searched around and found the sanctuary. Hustler is quite content staying inside the cottage even though she can go outside if she wants to.

Jerry

Jerry

Jerry is a semi feral that came here from another rescue that TNRs. Jerry was originally trapped by this rescue because he had 2 infected feet. The rescue nursed him back to health over several months, but were concerned about him being released back and possibly getting ill again. They contacted the sanctuary and Jerry came here to live out his life in safety.

J.J.

J.J.

J.J. (27yrs) is a mini mule. He came as a package deal with Jake. J.J. was living tied to a post in a barn because he was hard to catch. I do not know if he was wild and never handled much, abused by a previous owner, or maybe both, but to this day he is fearful of people he doesn't know. He finally can have his hooves trimmed without being sedated and he gives kisses for treats. A few years back he was diagnosed with metabolic disorder so he enjoys the pastures about half the year.

Josie

Josie

Josie is a shy, but getting more social, young adult that came here as a kitten after being trapped. She will follow the other cats and see them get petted and you can see that she is slowly losing that fear of being touched by humans. She loves treats and is relaxes quickly when you hold her. Maybe one day she will solicit attention like many of the other cats here, but she can take her time and do it on her own terms.

Little Grey and Stripes

Little Grey and Stripes

Little Grey and Stripes came with Momma Hillary and all are senior ferals. They all came from another rescue that TNRs. A kind woman had been caring for the trio their entire lives, but due to a change in living conditions, she was no longer able to care for them. The trio came here and are loving the fenced in enclosure.

Little Guy

Little Guy

Little Guy is String Bean's brother. They both came here at about 6 months from an ongoing TNR project and have flourished into cats that loved to be held and petted by those they know. Little Guy loves to talk to me and sit on my lap while I work on the computer (he's watching me type his bio right now!) He loves hanging out in the garden with his cat friends and sister.

Lulu

Lulu

Lulu is a product of an ongoing TNR (trap-neuter-return) project. She is very sweet, but shy. I would consider her to be semi-feral. Lulu and her brother Banjo used to live on a farm and they always stuck by each other's side.

Moo

Moo

Moo is a young semi-feral who does not want human touch at all. He adores other cats and being outside in the cat yard. He came here with Trouble from another rescue who felt they would be best placed in a sanctuary since neither were social enough for adoption.

Oreo

Oreo

Oreo is a semi feral that came here from another rescue. One of the volunteers from the sending rescue took Oreo in and started socializing her. It was clear to her that Oreo was unhappy living in the house and really did not want human contact. The rescue contacted the sanctuary and Oreo came here.

Patience

Patience

Patience is a young feral from a CT pound. She was not going to make it out of the pound alive so she came here. Patience loves other cats, treats, and going out in the cat yard. In the winter she loves hanging inside by the wood stove.

Penny

Penny

Penny was a baby when she came here with her mom Priya (who has since passed due to old age) from a NJ breeder. Priya was done being used for breeding and need a home - she just so happened to be sent with her daughter!

Piper and Kat

Piper and Kat

Piper (Beige) and Kat (Gray) come from NJ. Piper was done being bred and needed a new home while Kat was part of a rescue that this person in NJ assisted with. Kat came with Kit, but after many years together, Kit died leaving Kat alone. Kat got depressed and even though Piper had a history of hating every other chinchilla (including Kat originally), Piper is older now and her feelings of having a roommate have changed. These two are best buddies!

Puffin

Puffin

Puffin is part of our TNR efforts. He was trapped with mom and two siblings. Only mom and daughter were allowed to be returned to the barn.

Ralphie

Ralphie

Ralphie is Randy's brother. Ralphie came to me during the ongoing trapping project. I was setting the trap when I heard rustling and this little 4 week old kitten came climbing down crying to me. I grabbed him and took him home. He needed milk and medicine. He had a chronic infection and despite many tests, the vets could not determine what was wrong so he is on Lysine twice a day and this seems to keep things at bay. Ralphie loves to play and be held. He loves people and going outside.

Randy

Randy

Randy is one of the "book end" kittens. Him and his brother Ralphie came here around Christmas (hence their names) and it was very difficult to tell them apart except Randy has a white spot of his chest that can only be seen when he looks up. Randy loves to play and be out in the garden with the other cats. He is very friendly, loves being held and petted, and loves wrestling with his brother Ralphie.

Rodney and Tippy

Rodney and Tippy

Rodney and Tippy escaped the kill list at a NYC pound. Although they are young, they are not very social so no one wanted to adopt them. They have warmed up to their primary caregiver, but neither one still cares to be held for any length of time. Both love other cats and spending time in the cat yard.

Roxy Hart

Roxy Hart

Roxy was the first adult I trapped and kept. I also trapped her kittens and adopted them out. She is a beautiful Maine Coon mix who LOVES dogs! She watches over them and keeps tabs on them at all times. She enjoys getting petted and sitting in your lap on her own terms, but has become a much more social cat since first coming to live here.

Shortcake

Shortcake

Shortcake came to the sanctuary from another rescue. He was trapped because he was found to be in bad shape. The rescue wanted him to find a new home, but he was too feral. He needed a new place to go and is very happy here at the sanctuary.

String Bean

String Bean

"Little Bean" is her nickname. She got her name because she was extremely skinny when arriving here. This is not the case now so sometimes I call her "Fava Bean". String Bean came here with her brother, Little Guy at 6 months old. She has become quite friendly and loves her Uncle Ollie. She loves hanging out in the garden with the other cats.

Sunshine

Sunshine

Sunshine came with her house mate Trinity when their original rescuer fell on some hard time and needed to rehome many of her feral and semi feral cats that she had saved from the street. This is a picture of when she first came here. She is camera shy so hopefully a better pic to replace this one in the future!

Tanner

Tanner

Tanner came to the sanctuary because his owner that he was very close to passed away. Tanner is a beautiful middle aged boy who is very timid and shy.

Trinity

Trinity

Trinity came with her house mate Sunshine when their original rescuer fell on some hard time and needed to rehome many of her feral and semi feral cats that she had saved from the street. This is a picture of when she first came here. She is camera shy so hopefully a better pic to replace this one in the future!

Trouble

Trouble

Trouble is a young semi-feral who does likes getting pet by her primary caregiver, but does not like to be held. She loves other cats and being outside in the cat yard. She came here with Moo from another rescue who felt they would be best placed in a sanctuary since neither were social enough for adoption.

Uhtred

Uhtred

Uhtred is an older feral who had very rough start. He was brought into a kill shelter and due to some of his injuries he needed to be quarantined for 6 months. Once he was released he needed somewhere to go so he came to the sanctuary.
